The EU Scientific Committee on Food (SCF), working on the potential risk to human health arising from previous cargoes of ship tanks used to transport food substances, decided to move MTBE from "Provisionally Acceptable" to "Acceptable", based on the results of the recent comprehensive EU Risk Assessment.  This is yet another demonstration of the low impact of MTBE on health.
